Two-wheeler company Bajaj Auto Ltd.’s sales rose 11 percent to 5,12,038 units in October. In the same month last year, the company sold 4,63,208 vehicles. In the information given to the stock markets, the company said that its sales in the domestic market rose by one per cent to 2,81,160 units in October. The figure was 2,78,776 in the same month last year. On the other hand, TVS Motor Company sales rose by 22 per cent to 3,94,724 units in October.
Motorcycle sales up 18%
The company’s motorcycle sales grew 18 per cent to 4,70,290 units in the month under review, from 3,98,913 units a year ago. The company said sales of its Pulsar brand exceeded 1,70,000 units in October. During this period, the company’s commercial vehicle sales fell by 35 percent to 41,746 units. The figure was 64,295 units in the same month last year. In October, the company’s total vehicle exports increased by 25 percent to 2,30,878 units. In October 2019, the company exported 1,84,432 vehicles.
TVS Motor sales up 22%
TVS Motor Company’s sales rose 22 per cent to 3,94,724 units in October. In the same month last year, the company sold 3,23,368 vehicles. In the information given to the stock markets, the company said that its two-wheeler sales in October increased by 24 per cent to 3,82,121 units, compared to 3,08,161 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s two-wheeler sales in the domestic market rose 19 per cent to 3,01,380 units from 2,52,684 units in the same month a year ago.
In October, the company’s motorcycle sales grew 38 percent to 1,73,263 units. In October 2019, the company sold 1,25,660 motorcycles. Similarly, scooter sales of the company grew by five per cent to 1,27,138 units. In October 2019, the company sold 1,21,437 scooters. TVS Motor Company said that its three-wheeler sales fell to 12,603 units in October. In the same month a year ago, this figure was 15,207 units. In October, the company’s total exports increased by 33 percent to 92,520 units, compared to 69,339 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s two-wheeler exports grew by 46 percent to 80,741 units in the month under review, from 55,477 units in October 2019.
Ashok Leyland’s sales also increased marginally
Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, reported a 1 per cent increase in total commercial vehicle sales to 9,989 units in October. In the same month last year, the company sold 9,862 vehicles. In October, its sales in the domestic market declined by two per cent to 8,885 units from 9,079 units in the year-ago period.
The company’s heavy and medium commercial vehicle sales fell 11 per cent to 4,588 units in the month under review. The figure stood at 5,131 units in October 2019. However, sales of the company’s light commercial vehicles increased 14 per cent to 5,401 units during the period, from 4,731 units in the same month a year ago.
