Dua Lipa has been granted Albanian citizenship.
The London-born singer, whose dad and mom are from the jap European nation, took an oath at Tirana metropolis corridor.
The nation’s president, Barjam Begaj, mentioned she has made Albanians well-known all through the world due to her music.
The musician, 27, shared a picture of herself within the metropolis corridor surrounded by Albanian flags and holding a folder emblazoned with the nation’s emblem on Twitter.
She thanked Mr Begaj and Erion Veliaj, the town’s mayor, “for this honour” and added: “Got my Albanian citizenship!!”
The singer added the Albanian phrase: “Faleminderit, po ndihem shume krenare,” which interprets to “Thank you, I’m feeling very proud.”
Mr Begaj tweeted: “Happy to offer the one and solely Dua Lipa the decree of Albanian citizenship.
“She has made us proud with her global career and engagement in important social causes.”
Lipa was born in London in 1995 to Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, who migrated from Kosovo, and as a baby she spoke Albanian as her first language.
Speaking about her dad and mom earlier this 12 months, she advised the American information service NPR: “In 1992, they moved to Kosovo as the war in Bosnia was happening.
“My mum is half Bosnian, so her mother was in Sarajevo on the time, however they moved to London because the state of affairs began getting actually tough in ex-Yugoslavia.
