Green power agency ReNew Power has partnered with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Self-Employed Women’s Association of India (SEWA) to coach 1,000 low-income ladies salt-pan staff to work within the renewable trade. “In support of India’s clean energy transition, ReNew in partnership with UNEP and SEWA launched ‘Project Surya’ will train 1,000 low-income women salt-pan workers to work in the renewable industry,” a joint assertion by the three entities acknowledged.
Under ‘Project Surya’ initiative, ladies salt-pan staff, who work within the difficult and excessive temperatures at Rann of Kutch marshes, shall be educated as photo voltaic panel and solar-pump technicians at Dhokavada village within the Patan district of Gujarat.
ReNew will present monetary assist and familiarisation with its renewable facility within the space, whereas SEWA is the lead implementation accomplice, UNEP shall be liable for monitoring and evaluating the challenge.
According to the assertion, at the moment, these ladies are in a position to save a median of Rs 10,000 in round 10 months, whereas a photo voltaic panel technician can earn as much as Rs 18,000 in a month.
